The staining and polying went well this week, so we prepared some things, and got to work on replacing that kitchen window.
It was a gorgeous day, so the window being off for a few hours was not a problem! Anne had some reservations about getting up on that scaffolding in the dark, but she was brave and did a great job holding it in place while Tim shimmed the inside and nailed it in place!
By the way, here's a tip on staining.. if you're staining pine, be sure to use wood conditioner before staining, and don't even get polyurethane anywhere near it until you have everything stained that you want. We learned the hard way, and will probably replace the extension jambs when we replace all of the windows, the siding, and exterior sheeting in a few years (since we'll have to remove the window temporarily to do that anyway). |
